Once our team’s report on Studies Weekly was published, a digital copy was sent to the owner and Chairman of Studies Weekly, Mr. Ed Richer. Shortly after receipt of our report in December 2022, Studies Weekly published the following statement on its website:
Baldwin County Alabama Education Work Team (BCAEWT) received an email response from Studies Weekly in the form of a spreadsheet style chart referencing their plan to fix "typos" they acknowldge occuring in their instructional material.
In addition to copying Studies Weekly with our report findings, our project chairman, Robert Monk, sent a digital copy of our full report to Dr. Eric Mackey, Superintendent, Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE), and to each member of the state school board, including Governor Ivey.
Mr. Nick Moore, Education Policy Advisor & Coordinator of Governor Ivey's Office of Education & Workforce Transformation, graciously met with our team via video teleconference. He expressed his thanks and appreciation for our work.
In response to our report, Dr. Busbin, Ph.D., K-12 Social Studies Specialist, Instructional Services, Alabama State Department of Education met with our team on April 12, 2023, in Daphne, Alabama, to discuss our team’s work and concerns with Studies Weekly material. The following communications between our Work Team and the Alabama State Department of Education were facilitated by Dr. Busbin via email.
